Live Grizzlies

In the summer
of 2004, Phat Burner of Protokulture and PoohManChew
of Erie Division were roommates on the eastside of Cleveland. The
two had their own crews, but were looking to make a difference in
where hip-hop was going in the city. They wanted to bring back what
hip-hop once was: good beats, catchy hooks, raw emcees and djs!
The name GoLive Grizzlies comes from: GO LIVE: meaning
to go all out in whatever you do! GRIZZLY: meaning
to take what you want. Together with San2one6 (protokulture),
Uncle Lynn (erie division), Chris Todd (east cleveland),
Earthtone (endo), DjKnow1 (atticheads) and later Wild
Kyle (dj for PoohManChew). The crew hit the lab hard on a mixtape
that summer. This is the Nappyhead Entertainment "super group."
Each solo artist in the Go Live Grizzlies either has a solo project
out or is working on one. The GoLive Grizzlies has rocked numerous
shows, including "Kings of the Iron Mic," and opened up for Lyrics
Born, Slum Village and BootCampClik, among others.
In the summer of 2005, the GoLive Grizzlies released a five song
EP entitled, "Go Live or Go Home." Right now the Grizzles
are in the lab working on the full length release, "Grizzles
Bizzness," due out late 2006. This is just the beginning, "GO
LIVE OR GO HOME!"
Earthtone

Born
native of the suburbs of Cleveland Ohio, this female M.C. is determined
to break down barriers of this male dominant industry. Earthtone,
best describes her “Down to Earth” personality as well as her simple
way of life. The only female artist of Nappy Entertainment, she
does what it takes to shine with the likes of her male counterparts
and sparks the audiences’ attention, while leaving a lasting impression.
Her style has been described as “Hard and Edgy”. Earthtone’s musical
influences include: Queen Latifah, Common, Nas, Ludacris, Exhibit,
Redman, Method Man, Fugees, Erykah Badu, Musiq Soulchild, Jill Scott,
India Arie, Busta Rhymes, Go- Live Grizzles and Cleveland‘s own
216. She plans to leave her mark in the industry not only as an
M.C., but an all around “Entertainer”, something she feels the industry
is lacking. Growing up in a household where music was a great influence,
she plans to enlighten today’s generation with jazz and 70’s genres
with a “twist”. Earthtone states she cannot be categorized; it’s
just her “artistic expressions”. Her music is authentic and a well
needed breathe of fresh air. On songs such as “Mean 16”, she shows
that’s all it takes to open infinite possibilities to longevity
and prosperity to her career. She talks to the industry as a whole,
on her single “One Shot” which explains the seriousness of her mission
and making her dreams become reality. She simply expresses realistic
issues never passing up the chance to demand the listener’s attention.
Trials and tribulations forced Earthtone to desert the game for
awhile, but the love of hip-hop brought her back as she explains
on her first recording, after her hibernation period, “Mindphrame”.
This is her way of telling the world she’s back and very determined
to leave “her” footsteps in the mud! She’s taking hip-hop back to
its roots, battle rhymes, comedy, and excitement, when hip-hop was
fun and when the true element was just urban society’s innocent
way of expression. The single “Substance” featuring Marvelous, speaks
of “the one” who posses all the right qualities to be that significant
other. This may be a softer side of Earthtone, but in no way, shape
or form is this female “soft”. Her unique raspy voice, impacts all
who hears.
Chris
Todd

Que Pasa! The
time has come for the man to let the world know more about…the man!
The man known as "Whoodee" in the hood, but to the world of hip-hop,
he will be known as "The Beast from the Wild West," also known as
Chris Todd. Chris Todd has blessed many mics from Cleveland to Maryland
and has gained quite a reputation for himself. A native of East
Cleveland, Ohio and raised by a single mother, Chris Todd admits
his short temperament and hostile environment are the cause of his
negative actions in the past and having no hope for a better life...but
then he was introduced to hip-hop! This genre of music has been
part of his life for over 20 years now. His main influences include,
KRS-ONE, E.P.M.D., LL Cool J, Rakim, A Tribe Called Quest, Busta
Rhymes, and Redman. Be warned, Chris Todd will dominate any cypher,
entertain any crowd, and prove worthy of his peers to be called
"The Beast!" He has entertained crowds all over Cleveland, Ohio
in such venues as: The Grog Shop, Pat's in the Flats, The Beachland
Bar and Ballroom, Peabody's, and Club Hi-Fi. His lyrical abilities
will get the party jumping in the club and his storytelling capabilities
are ones that will make you say "Hmmm!" Staying true to the essence
of the hip-hop culture, he is deemed a true innovator of this new
generation of hip-hop, while definitely leaving you salivating for
what he may have next to enlighten the world with. There have been
several offers from majors record labels to sign this outstanding
lyrical mc, but "shady" legalities and his unwillingness to compromise
himself, left him no choice but to take his destiny into his own
hands. In 2002, he teamed up with his childhood friend PoohManChew,
a local promoter, m.c., and head of Nappy Head Entertainment, in
Cleveland, Ohio, to create the powerful and heavy "spittin" hip-hop
group, "Go-Live Grizzles." Chris Todd has been featured on several
NappyHead Entertainment mixtapes and cd's and is anticipating his
first solo release, coming soon. The streets are in need of new
flava and Chris Todd is just the man to deliver!
San
2one6

San
216...Thats right, you read the name correctly! Either youre pretty
brave of pretty crazy to have your citys original area code attached
to your name. Hes a little of both. Hailing from the Eastside of
Cleveland, Ohio this local native has been around the underground
hip-hop scene for 10 years. Starting out with the crew Woody Nation
in the late 90s, he later left the group to pursue a solo career.
Somewhat a loner, it wasnt until 1999 that San 216 became involved
with another talented hip-hop group, ProtoKulture. The four strong
minded, collective thinkers from ProtoKulture shared emceeing and
production talents . ProtoKulture shaped Sans vision of forward
thinking hip-hop. Within the next two years, ProtoKulture went on
to produce 2 group projects, as well as Sans first solo c.d. Its
my call. Released in 2003. Headlining shows with ProtoKulture at
such venues : The Rhythm Room and Club X O. San re acquainted himself
with Poohmanchew, local promoter, m.c., and President of Nappy Head
Entertainment, whom hed worked with previously on the first ProtoKulture
c.d. and Nappy Head mixtape c.d., Kings released in 2002. Having
established a good rapport on and off the mic, Pooh extended an
open invitation for San 216 to join the Nappy Head family and create
the super group, Go-Live Grizzles! Their first mixtape was released
in 2004. With influences ranging from KRS-ONE to Scarface, Common
to N.W.A., San 216s style flows through different topics from love
to the government and back to the hood again. With his new c.d.
The VentILLation already in circulation in Ohio and Michigan, and
the Go-Live Grizzles c.d.s, San 216 is here to prove Cleveland has
real authentic hip-hop. Brought to you by the minds of Nappy Head
Entertainment! NOW YOUVE BEEN WARNED!
